Lactation Support Groups
Our lactation support groups are 90 minute group meetings led by IBCLC, International Board Certified Lactation Consultants.
New families will receive support and guidance in common challenges such as:
latching and positioning baby at the breast,
assessing milk transfer and infant weight gain,
increasing milk supply,
pumping or hand expressing milk,
introducing a bottle,
dealing with fussiness and sleep challenges,
returning to work,
dealing with unsolicited advice,
building confidence as a new parent,
and much more.
During the support group, IBCLC will help assess concerns and make recommendations for ongoing support if needed. Sensitive medical scales are available at all groups for pre and post-feed weights to determine milk intake.
Support groups are NOT appropriate for complex lactation or medical situations. These are best served by a detailed home visit with ongoing support. To find an IBCLC to work with privately, please go to: NYLCA.org

Are you a doula looking to observe our lactation support group?
When I brought my son, Harry, home from the hospital, he wasn’t eating at all. We showed up at LaShanda’s lactation group the next day and by the time we left, he had taken a bottle from her and we had a feeding plan. She continued to support our family over the next several weeks as Harry became a good eater, grew well, and learned to breast feed successfully. LaShanda is amazing and we can never thank her enough for helping us through a very hard time!

“Struggling with breastfeeding can be very worrying and isolating. I am deeply grateful for the lactation support group at The Wild. The opportunity it provides to meet with other parents dealing with similar issues and to learn from extraordinary passionate lactation consultants truly made a major positive impact on my journey. We are incredibly lucky to have this resource led by these incredible experts in our neighbourhood.”
